Singer/songwriter Alden Schell will perform at a special evening music event in Flat Rock on Saturday, October 4, from 5 to 7pm (one hour earlier than previous concerts). She will be joined on stage by friend and fellow singer/songwriter Ginny Wilder from Asheville. This free, family-oriented event will be held on the back deck of Little Rainbow Row (behind the colorful shops, corner of Greenville Hwy. and West Blue Ridge Rd.).The music series is presented by the Flat Rock Merchants Association with series sponsorship help from Carolina First Bank, Bold Life! and WTZQ. San Francisco based acoustic musician Alden Schell was born and raised in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Alden and her best friend flipped a coin and, 3 months later, ended up in California. With the West Coast as her home base, she took her Martin guitar on a trip around the country, charming and befriending any audience. Alden spent her college years in Athens at the University of Georgia - - hometown of some of her favorite performing groups: the Indigo Girls, R.E.M., and Widespread Panic. In late 2005, Alden's West Coast debut came at the world famous Hard Rock Café. Her music is often been described as a young Shawn Colvin chilling with Jewel, blended with a bit of Melissa Ferrick...yet undeniably "Alden." For more info about Alden see: www.aldenlive.com This is a casual, family oriented, bring-your-lawn-chair outdoor event, weather permitting. Flat Rock Village Bakery and Hubba Hubba Wood-fired Smokehouse will be open offering take out pizza and BBQ dinners and beverages. Off street parking will be designated with limited handicap accessibility. For further information, call Hand in Hand Gallery at 697-7719 or visit www.flatrockonline.com |
